Why Choose Little Star
We’re small on purpose.
Navigating the Colorado waiver, Medicaid, and HCPF landscape can feel overwhelming and confusing. That is why we keep our agency intentionally close-knit—so quality and personal attention remain at the heart of everything we do.
With a policy expert and experienced advocates on our team, there is always a familiar person on our end to help. We are a steady partner in your corner, providing the kind of reliable support that gives families peace of mind
Services
Services
If you’re already caring for your adult son or daughter, Colorado may be able to pay you for it. We handle the paperwork — SIS level changes, guardianship, Social Security, lease agreements — so you can spend that time on your family instead of a filing cabinet.
A Host Home Provider is one caring person or family who opens their home to someone who needs support — whether that’s a family dinner table or just one person who felt called to help. We match carefully, so it’s never just a bed. It’s belonging.
Wandering Stars is our mobile day program, running Tuesday through Thursday and picking up and dropping off across Fort Collins and Loveland. Days include outdoor adventures, volunteering, shopping, dining out, museums, and more — all building confidence and connection in the community.
For people on the SLS waiver, our Homemaker services bring support right into the home — cleaning, laundry, and meal prep — so day-to-day life stays manageable in the place you already live.
A safe place for a service member to go have their own day, so the person who usually never gets a day off can have one too.
Reliable rides to everything that makes up a life — errands, friends, activities — not just appointments

Guidance & Resources That Support Your Journey
Financial Considerations
Navigating the financial landscape of disability services can be overwhelming. As a family-run PASA, we prioritize transparency and education to ensure your family maximizes every available benefit.
Early Application for SSI (Supplemental Security Income)
For individuals with IDD, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) provides essential monthly financial assistance once they turn 18.
Colorado ABLE Accounts—Save Without Penalty
Until recently, people with disabilities couldn’t save more than $2,000 without losing Medicaid or SSI. Colorado ABLE accounts changed that.
Maximizing Benefits with Written Lease Agreements
A common pitfall for families is the “One-Third Reduction” rule. If an adult child lives at home for free, the SSA may reduce their SSI check by one-third because they are receiving “In-Kind Support and Maintenance” (food and shelter).
